JULY 18th, 2008 THE RETURN OF THE LEGENDS PROFESSIONAL BOXING AND MMA AT RELIANT ARENA
|
This is an
outstanding match
up that has been a
long time coming.
Having sparred in
the gyms many
times, Martin and
Mahfood have never
fought. Christy
Martin is a big
Houston Astros fan
and even threw out
the first pitch at a
Astros game at
Minute Maid Park a
couple of years
ago. “I am very
excited to fight in
such a great sports
town as Houston”
says Martin. “It is a
dream come true to
fight for the NABF
title. I promise to
turn “The Wolfe”
Mahfood into a lap
dog in what will be
a war from the
opening bell.”
UPCOMING EVENTS:
Mahfood is from
Beaumont and has
fought in the
Houston area a
number of times
building a loyal
following due to her
aggressive rough
house style. I am
exceptionally happy
about the fight
being in Texas,
specifically
Houston”. Valerie
Mahfood admits
tremendous
respect for Martin
and what she has
done for females in
the sport of boxing.
“I see Christy as a
magnificently
skilled boxer. She
is crafty and
strong...I could list
several pages of
things I respect
and admire about
Christy. Still, on
July 18, none of
that will matter. I
can respect her all I
want. But, I’m still
going to kick her
ass”.
Tickets are on sale through Ticketmaster and Reliant Arena box office.
